Introspecs was brought into this project in collaboration with Modern Organic Construction, to rebuild a fire-damaged 1954 Ranch-style in SW Portland, with a major focus on the kitchen design and full material palette throughout the house. Capitalizing on this unique opportunity to reinvent the interiors, Allisen’s design and space planning called for demolishing all interior kitchen walls, opening it up to the dining room and sunken living room. This major change increases spatial and visual sight-lines between the core rooms and the outdoor garden, creating more family connection as a result. The natural birch and myrtlewood butcher block in the kitchen are stand-out materials, highlighted against a peaceful and pleasant monochromatic backdrop.
